GP Exercise Referral
Whether you have been referred from your GP or you would like to get active again, I can help you!
Going to a gym can be a daunting experience for anyone regardless of age and as we get older, we feel young at heart but our physical strength and coordination decreases.
Having expert guidance in the comfort of your own home can put a spring back in your step and give you renewed energy and purpose to carry on enjoying life.
This is what one of my clients said.
“Some years ago I was diagnosed with Polymyalgia Rheumatica, which lasted for a good number of years and I was on Steroids for the duration. Then 2 years ago I had a hip replacement. Due to the Polymyalgia and the hip replacement, my muscles became very weak, not only in my legs but also my upper and lower body.
My Osteopath said many times “I can stretch your muscles, but I can’t strengthen them, that is up to you.” Everything I tried didn’t seem to work, I couldn’t walk very far and at the age of 76, the thought of spending the rest of my life sitting and watching afternoon television day in and day out because I couldn’t move very much was something that scared me.
Then I met Debbie from Let Your Body Talk UK Ltd, through an acquaintance and things started to change.
I have been working with Debbie for a total of 30 hours over the course of the past three and a half months. We started with very gentle exercises to strengthen my lower body, my back and my central core muscles.
Within a very short time I was able to get up from a dining chair without using the table for support, but the best thing was being able to get up from the toilet without using my frame, which I had relied upon heavily. The frame has long since gone!
Debbie also teaches Polestar Mat Pilates, which I was interested in, but Pilates is on the floor and due to a knee problem – not joint related – I had not been able to get down on the floor, let alone get up again for more than 35 years!
Debbie and I worked together to help me find a way to be able to get down on the floor so that I could participate in her Pilates class in a yurt!
So, we started working on my upper body strength, again with simple exercises. After a few weeks of strength building, plus Debbie’s encouragement, I succeeded and went to my first Pilates class, and yes, I got down on the mat!
Debbie is an amazing teacher who is full of warmth and understanding. She will never push you to work beyond your ability and has great respect for you as a person.
For me, she is the perfect teacher for those of us in our senior years. I am now 77 and will not be watching afternoon television for many years!”
